Future Father Luke Webb

Recently Luke has had Jesus on his mind and has been saying the sweetest things. Last summer we got a new priest at our church. His name is Father Zach Webb. He was just ordained last summer and is 27 years old. He is a true treasure and has been such a blessing to our parish. His youthfulness is refreshing and the boys have really taken to him. Just before we went to Christmas Mass, Luke says "Instead of Father Zach Webb, I want to be Father Luke Webb." Wouldn't that be amazing!!

We went to Mass on Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. After receiving our ashes Luke asks me "Do I have a cross on my forehead?" When I said yes he started jumping up and down and said "Yea, I have Jesus on my side".

Here was another recent conversation:
Luke: "Did you know we're like pets?"
Me: "Oh is that right?"
Luke: "Yes, we are Jesus' sheeps."
Me: "Oh, you are right. If we are the sheep, then who is Jesus?"
Luke: "He's the leopard." (meaning to say shepherd)

Luke loves to sit down to draw and color. I usually have to get him to explain his drawings and this one was a special one. As you can see he wrote Luke and Jesus at the top. Along with a rainbow, and below the sun is a cross with Jesus on it and he is in the middle. He also drew three little people in light blue and those were the three times Jesus fell carrying the cross. He also explained the yellow circle on the outside was heaven.

Luke loves to draw something for me and he leaves it on my nightstand as a surprise. I usually have very specific instructions on when I can open it. The other day he told me I had to open it on Valentine's Day. But once I explained that was almost a year away he told me to close my eyes and count to ten. This specific drawing included himself, Jesus, a rainbow, the sun and rain. I love how his little mind works.

A Fun Birthday Celebration

My sister, Kristina had a big birthday this year. She has joined Jim in the over-the-hill club. She turned 40 on February 16. The kids and I went to my parents for the weekend to help celebrate her big day. (Jim had a commitment at church that weekend). My dad started the weekend off with a round of  apple martinis.

Saturday we thought we would all drive over to Shreveport for something different. We had lunch at the Blind Tiger and then took the kids to a science museum and had a great time. After leaving there we noticed there was a Mardi Gras parade getting ready to start. Apparently this was the family friendly Mardi Gras parade that started at 4:30 so it was a fun opportunity for the kids.

"All linked up" as they say.

Posing in front of the some of the floats before the parade started.

Just walking by the floats, the kids got all kinds of goodies.

The costumes and float decor were impressive.

This lady was dressed as Honey Boo-Boo.

The parade lasted two hours. And we stood there the entire time. Even in the drizzle for a bit. The kids were having so much fun trying to dodge catch all the beads and other goodies they were throwing from the floats.

Sarah also managed to get a wand and a crown that she loves and wears all the time. She loves for me to wear it too!

Just look at all those beads!

Fun times!

Seriously the kids had so much fun. It really was fun as each float went by, music blaring, people screaming, beads, stuffed animals, balls, cups flying everywhere. Now, what to do with all these things they collected?? Oy!

Once the parade ended, we grabbed dinner on the Boardwalk at Buffalo Wild Wings. All the other places we wanted to eat at were packed. We had a great dinner and then headed over to a chocolate shop for a birthday dessert. Kristina had a great time and we enjoyed the day celebrating her birthday! Happy birthday seester!

Luke's 5th Birthday

Our sweet little Lukie-Lou is five years old! Five! I think I'm starting to feel kind of old with a 7, 5 and 2.5 year old in the house. We had a great time celebrating our sweet Luke.

The day started out early with gifts from us and a muffin breakfast before school.

Jacob reading his card for him.

Gift time.

We got to celebrate at school by taking donuts up for his snack time. His teachers definitely made him feel special that day.

Prayer time.

He gets so embarrassed during the Happy Birthday song.

Ms. Carolyn

Ms. Nicole

We told Luke that he could decide where to go for dinner that night. He chose Chili's because "they have the best corn dogs!" So Chili's it was!
He decided to wear his school birthday crown to dinner. And Jacob even bought a gift for Luke with his very own money. He was so proud and excited to give it to Luke.

My boys!

After dinner, the waiters surprised Luke with a brownie dessert and sang Happy Birthday to him. He was excited and embarrassed!

The weekend after his birthday my family came up for his party. He opened their gifts at the house before the party. I just love these pictures of his little blushing, embarrassed face while we sang Happy Birthday!

Grandpa cuddle time! Dad usually has the girls in his lap.

Sarah loves her Papa as she calls him, only because she can't say Grandpa yet.

Later that afternoon we headed down to Jumpstreet in Plano for his party. The kids got to jump for an hour, then enjoyed a pizza and cake break then jumped for a bit more. They were pooped but had a great time!

Gabriel, Luke and Dawson- two little friends from his class.

Jackson, Luke and Gabriel

Pizza time.

Lots of little friends. Luke had a blast with his little friends.

Gabriel is his best buddy from school.

He requested a cookie cake- fine by me! :)

Again with the embarrassed face, sweet boy!

So embarrassed!

Happy Birthday little Luke! We love you baby boy!
