Open House and Spring Break

The Thursday before Spring Break, Jacob's school had their Open House night. We got to see the projects they had been working so hard on and then attended the book fair.

Each family was asked to decorate their Texas shape and they were displayed in the hallway.

Proud of First Grade's science fair project with Lily.

A few days later, we started Spring Break off by driving to Waco to attend the KU/Baylor basketball game.  We can't pass up seeing those Jayhawks when they play in Texas. Sadly they lost but we still had fun cheering them on.

From Waco, we dressed the kids in their pj's and drove down to Houston for a quick trip to see Kyla and family. Jim and the boys got to meet Andrew for the first time and we got lots of baby cuddles. Baby Andrew is just as sweet as ever and Kyla, Michael and Joseph are adjusting well and enjoying their new little bundle. So fun having another baby in the family.

The kids loved getting their turn to hold Andrew.

Sarah was in heaven getting her hands on that sweet baby and kept calling him a baby doll. :)

There are several parks in the neighborhood so we spent lots of time playing there with big brother Joseph.

Snack break.

After a fun visit with Kyla and Michael we went back home for a few days and got to see some friends.

At the park with Andra and Avery.

We headed out to Tyler on Thursday so Jim could attend a church retreat with my Dad and Oscar and we spent the long weekend with Kristina and kids and my mom.

At the candlelight service at the retreat.

Jacob had initially started out in the bed to the left.  When I went and checked on them before I went to bed this is what I found.  Not sure if he fell off or if he got down there so they could sleep together. Sweet cousins! I did get him up to go to the bathroom and put him back in his bed. They sure looked crowded. :)

Toothless boy

Jacob has been a busy boy lately, busy losing teeth. He has lost seven total and has one more that is getting close. At his last dentist appointment, the dentist told us that after kids lose the first eight (top and bottom front four) they typically don't lose anymore until after they get their twelve year molars. Who knew?? Not me. Seriously with all the teeth! I'm telling you, teething never ends! Jacob talks about age twelve a lot...he remembers me saying it's when he will get his extra tooth pulled and his next round of vaccines. He's already dreading both, poor guy!

Look at that grin!
Recently when Jacob lost his sixth tooth he decided to write the tooth fairy a note and ask her what her name was.   Apparently "The Tooth Fairy" wasn't enough and he needed to know more. Some classmates had done this and were very proud of their tooth fairy names. Apparently our Tooth Fairy's name is Flossy and she wrote her name on the line he left for her on his note. :-)

He ended up losing his seventh tooth at school. He pulled it right out and of course he had blood all over the place, his desk, hands and his shirt. Ms. Lewis makes it special for them by letting them take home a baggie of books about the tooth fairy and a little tooth shaped pillow. So cute. They also get to make a trip to the nurse's office to get a little treasure chest to put the tooth in. He was so excited!
Just when I thought his curiosity of the tooth fairy was gone, he decided that after losing his seventh tooth he needed to write another note and ask if her name was the same. Apparently some of his classmates have several different ones that visit??  Looks like the Webbs just have one because Flossy responded "It's me, Flossy!". :-) He seemed happy with that!

He also told me that some classmates also said if you leave a cup of water out for the tooth fairy, she will sprinkle her fairy dust into the water and the water will turn the color that she is??  Sooo, we left a cup of water and apparently Flossy is red. He was so so excited the next morning to see all of this. I'm wondering what he is going to ask when he loses that eighth tooth. I think Flossy is going to enjoy the break after this eighth tooth is gone and we have a nice break. :-)

Random picture update

I realized I had several random pictures to post from the past two months. So here goes...

Lunch with Jacob on his 100th day of first grade.

Love the double shopping carts at Costco. And so do they!

Last weekend the boys asked to sleep together. This is how I found them when I checked on them before I went to bed. Sweetness!

Sarah playing kitchen with her little friend, Charlotte.

Coloring fun in the office with Charlotte.

All in costume!
Sarah and Charlotte at story time at the library. Sarah cracked me up with her sunglasses on. Oh I love her!
Jacob's best buddy, JT over for a play date.

When I looked back at Sarah in the car one day, I just had to giggle. Miss Hollywood with a tea cup in hand.

She sipped on her pretend tea the entire ride.

Sweet Luke coloring in his shark coloring book. This boy loves sharks and loves to color!
This could be me on any given day. I am SOOOO over dinner. The planning, shopping, preparing day after day is wearing me out. I would be happy with a sandwich or a bowl of cereal or even a simple salad. Oh if it were just that easy. And I think the thought of how many more years I have to cook dinner also wears me down. Feeding these boys will be no easy task when they are teenagers!

The newest addition

Kyla and Michael welcomed little Andrew Thomas Zajicek into the world on February 14, 2013. He weighed 8lbs 1oz and is perfectly healthy. He is such a sweet baby and loves to cuddle. Sarah and I made the drive to Houston the day after he was born. We spent a few days with them and Sarah and Joseph got to have lots of good play time. We are so excited to have another baby in the family and are so happy for Kyla, Michael and Joseph.

Baby meets mommy.

Baby meets Aunt Katherine. Just look at his sweet face.

Love those cheeks!

Baby meets Sarah.

Loved those sweet baby cuddles!

Grandma had a fun time taking care of big brother Joseph while they were in the hospital.

Ready to go home!
Welcome home Zajicek family!

Sweetness!

Future Father Luke Webb

Recently Luke has had Jesus on his mind and has been saying the sweetest things. Last summer we got a new priest at our church. His name is Father Zach Webb. He was just ordained last summer and is 27 years old. He is a true treasure and has been such a blessing to our parish. His youthfulness is refreshing and the boys have really taken to him. Just before we went to Christmas Mass, Luke says "Instead of Father Zach Webb, I want to be Father Luke Webb." Wouldn't that be amazing!!

We went to Mass on Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. After receiving our ashes Luke asks me "Do I have a cross on my forehead?" When I said yes he started jumping up and down and said "Yea, I have Jesus on my side".

Here was another recent conversation:
Luke: "Did you know we're like pets?"
Me: "Oh is that right?"
Luke: "Yes, we are Jesus' sheeps."
Me: "Oh, you are right. If we are the sheep, then who is Jesus?"
Luke: "He's the leopard." (meaning to say shepherd)

Luke loves to sit down to draw and color. I usually have to get him to explain his drawings and this one was a special one. As you can see he wrote Luke and Jesus at the top. Along with a rainbow, and below the sun is a cross with Jesus on it and he is in the middle. He also drew three little people in light blue and those were the three times Jesus fell carrying the cross. He also explained the yellow circle on the outside was heaven.

Luke loves to draw something for me and he leaves it on my nightstand as a surprise. I usually have very specific instructions on when I can open it. The other day he told me I had to open it on Valentine's Day. But once I explained that was almost a year away he told me to close my eyes and count to ten. This specific drawing included himself, Jesus, a rainbow, the sun and rain. I love how his little mind works.
