Memorial Day Weekend

We went to East Texas over Memorial Day weekend and had a weekend full of activities.

The kids swimming at Kristina and Oscar's house

Celebrating Annie's 3rd birthday

We also had the opportunity to go out and support my Grandpa on Memorial Day. They had a special ceremony in Tyler that we went to and it was great. He will be 88 in a few weeks. He is a Pearl Harbor Survivor and always appreciates the special treatment he receives. Going to ceremonies like this one makes me so thankful for our great country and the wonderful men and women that serve for our freedom!

My Dad and Grandpa were interviewed by channel 56 and made it on the news coverage that night.

Being silly while eating breakfast at Grandma and Grandpa's.

I actually captured a smile from Luke. Powdered donut face and all!

Showing off the biggest radish

And the biggest squash

They found a frog in the garden and Luke had NO fear. He was chasing it all over and would pick it up and hold it without thinking twice.

Jacob wasn't too sure at first but warmed up quickly

  1. What a FUN time with family for the holiday! I just love that the cousins are able to get together so often. They are creating so many wonderful memories together and will grow up just loving their time together!

I also really admire your parents' garden. How neat to be able to grow their own produce! I would love to do that but I know I'd kill everything I tried, ha!

So neat about your Grandpa -- he's now a local celebrity on the news!

  3. Oh that all looks like so much fun! Your kiddos are making such great memories with their cousins and grandparents. I love it! And I love that you guys got to celebrate with your grandpa. What a special gift. I still remember sitting in your kitchen, interviewing him for one of my projects in high school. Do you remember that? It was such an honor to get to hear first hand stories of that day. I'm so glad he is able to stay connected with other vets through all of his activities!

  4. You guys make the Waltons look like they need to learn about family. =) I love how ya'll enjoy each other so much! Your grandpa is a very honorable man. We owe so much to those who served and to those who serve now. May God bless them all.

  5. Your grandpa amazes me. I've always loved that he has continued his dedication to honoring and remembering those who have served and are serving today. It just makes my heart swell with pride to see that kind of patriotism. And how wonderful that the kiddos got to be a part of the celebration.

I'm so impressed with Luke and his relentless pursuit of the frog!
