It's a Dirty Job...

...but somebody has gotta do it. Parenthood, that is!

Here are the Top 10 reasons why I find myself thinking this is one "dirty" job...

1. We go to the movies and load up on popcorn, candy and of course a Diet Coke for me. Which inadvertently gets knocked out of the cup holder and into my lap and all over my khaki pants. All within the first 5 minutes of the movie.

2. Upon the kids finishing their suckers in the car, they ask you to take their left over sucker sticks. I reach my hand back to get them and they get placed in my hand, sticky side first. EVERY time!

3. While I'm putting the kids in the car, I see dried up boogers that have been wiped on Sarah's car seat, Luke's car seat and Jacob's of course. Just ask for a tissue!

4. Jacob and Luke were rough playing. They crash and Jacob immediately gets a bloody nose. His first, I might add. Blood is dripping down his shirt, all over the carpet and all over me.

5. I take the boys to get their flu shots. I get mine first to show them my brave face and that it really doesn't hurt. I sit there with a huge smile on my face and reiterate "See, it doesn't hurt." Only thinking on the inside how much I wanted to wrinkle up my nose and say OUCH!

6. You don't realize until you have a broken toe just how often your feet get stepped on.

7. And of course there is always the moment when the first bite of chicken is too hot which then gets spit out into your hand!

8. We get a sitter for Jacob and Luke and decide to go out to dinner. We take Sarah with us. She sleeps through the first part of dinner then wakes up crying. I pick her up and hold her. She then proceeds to grunt, push and out shoots a diaper full. Which then shoots out all over my pants and onto the floor. And bright yellow I might add. And yes, these were the same khaki pants that were referenced in #1. These poor pants will never be the same.

9. And by no means was #8 a solo event. This actually has happened more with Sarah than the other two combined. I have been pooped on and spit up on more than I can ever remember. That's my girl! Thank goodness for Oxi Clean!!

10. And last but certainly not least, the ball cap is my friend these days. I mean really, who has time for daily hair washes and primping in the mirror when you've got 3 small kids to keep tabs on!

Oh, motherhood! It's one dirty job, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Gotta love these messy, germ-carrying, precious, little angels! :-)

Bows, bonnets, bloomers and the Bumbo seat

A few weekends ago Sarah and I met my mom, my aunt, Kristina and her two girls in Canton for the day. We had such a fun girls day! Sarah literally slept the entire day in her stroller except for the two times she woke up to eat. And she still managed to make out on the purchases. And I must say...it is F.U.N having a girl!

Let me digress for a moment...
When we found out we were having a girl back in March it just didn't quite sink in. I was excited about having a girl but couldn't quite wrap my arms around what that meant. I remember my friend Amanda asking me while we were still in the hospital, "So does it feel any different having a girl?" And my response was "No." Now of course, we were still in the hospital and Sarah was only dressed in the hospital tshirt and swaddled up in their blanket. So, it didn't feel any different at this point. I will say the day we left the hospital and I put her in her dress to go home, it started feeling a little different. The more I dressed her in her "girlie" pink clothes, and accessorized with bows etc, it was starting to sink in a little more. And now that our little Sarah is 3 months, I am ALL about having a girl. All the PINK clothes never excited me in beginning but now I am all about the pink. It's just so sweet! And the bows and the bloomers and sweet little hats...come on now, it's adorable! I look forward to the many shopping sprees that I foresee in our future. :)

Ok, so back to Canton. I had fun picking out some new bows for Sarah.

And Grandma bought her this sweet little hat.

And a little girl must have a pair of bloomers with her name on it.

And a few sweet smiles will melt any momma's heart!

And a drooly smile is the best. I'm expecting her first tooth to be coming soon! Jacob and Luke got their first tooth at 4 months.

And just for some girl fun!

We are borrowing cousin Emily's Bumbo seat. Purple of course! She seems to like it but only lasts a few minutes before those muscles give out!

She is starting to put things in her mouth now.

Peace out mommy!

Wardrobe aside, I look forward to all the other things that having a sweet girl can and will bring to our family. :)

Finished projects

If you remember we recently had some work done to our front flower beds. In case you forgot here are the before pictures. Such a mess!

And the after pics

We had the stone work completed last week. And here is the final product!

We had them use the left overs shrubs from the front beds in the backyard beds. This stone work was already in place with empty beds so I was thrilled we had something to plant here.

Along with the bed work, we had to get part of the backyard leveled out in order to get the kid's playset in place. They brought in dirt to level it out and then planted sod on top. Here is a before picture of the yard.

And here is the much anticipated playset. The boys are LOVING it!

They are loving their picnic table. Perfect for a little afternoon snack.

And what would a post be without a picture of my little ones.
