Lukie- 21 months

My baby boy will be 21 months on Saturday. He is getting so big, so quickly! He is loads of fun and here is what he has been up to lately:

*He loves, loves, loves Elmo.

*Because of his love for Elmo, he can pick out the color red when I ask him (most of the time). We are working on the other colors as well.

*He continues to love, love, love books! He always brings a book to me, backs up towards me to sit in my lap so we can read together. And by reading I mean I'm trying to frantically point out things on the page as he is frantically turning the pages.

*And wouldn't you know his favorite book is an Elmo book!

*He loves his shape sorter. He can pick up a shape and find the correct shape hole to put it into. So big!

*He does NOT like to get his teeth brushed! Now, he has a mouth full of teeth. He has all of them but 4 (the 2 yr molars). So he seriously needs a good brushing. So the routine is I put the toothpaste on his toothbrush. He holds the toothbrush up to his eyes and makes a frown and points to the tube for more! He is never satisfied with the amount of toothpaste on there. So, I routinely open the tube back up and put a teeny bit more on which makes him happy. He then chews on his toothbrush for awhile. I then try my best to brush which usually ends up with lots of tears! Not fun by any means. I'm ready for this phase to pass!

*I have been blessed with both of my boys being great eaters. Recently Luke has been eating asparagus, broccoli, sweet potatoes, cheese, cooked carrots, beans, black olives, any fruit, chicken, fish sticks, hamburger meat.

*He HAS to have some kind of "dip, dip" as we say when he eats. It can be any type of salad dressing, ketchup, hot sauce, etc. He loves to dip all of his food in his dip, dip. Better yet, he loves dipping his fingers in it and eating it directly.

*Now you would think b/c he likes to eat and eats well, he would drink milk. Not so much! Neither Luke or Jacob will drink milk. That's why I'm so glad he at least gets his calcium from his cheese and broccoli.

*We've recently been doing "Ring Around the Rosie" and he loves it! He is so dramatic with his fall at the end, it's so funny!

*He continues to favor his left hand!

We love and enjoy our little Lukie!

Sisters Weekend

I'm a little behind in my posts. October has shaped up to be an extremely busy month but we are home now and plan to be for awhile.

Last weekend, Kristina, Annie, Luke and myself flew up to Minneapolis to spend the weekend with Kyla and Michael. We hadn't seen them since March and were much overdue for a visit. We had a great time. They are having one of the coldest Octobers on record so it was a bit of a change from our good 'ole Texas weather. But it was nice and refreshing. Saturday, Kyla drove us by the offices of Cargill where both she and Michael work. Then we hit the Mall of America and spent a good 4-5 hours there. Needless to say, we were pooped after that shopping trip! Sunday we went to a little Fall festival. Luke and Annie had a blast...

They had so much fun in the hay maze

They had a blast playing with Aunt Kyla

This was a "corn pit", it was about 4 feet tall of corn. I had never seen this before. Annie loved it. Luke wasn't too sure.

Luke was trying to figure it all out

Can't catch me

Who needs the path, we'll create our own

Nothing says "fall" like these trees

While Luke and I were gone for the weekend, let just say there was some male bonding going on back at home. Jacob and Jim had a great weekend together. And they were busy. It was homecoming up at North Texas so they went to the bonfire Friday night which Jacob loved! He also talked a lot about the cheerleaders! haha
Saturday, Jacob rode his bike while Jim tried to keep up on foot, to a local donut shop for breakfast. Then they went to play lunar golf in the mall which Jacob loves! Then nap time it was, for both of them I think! Then they went to the North Texas game that night in Denton. Jim's dad joined them. They made it through the first half and headed home. Sunday they went to church, went to a trial class of Little Sluggers then met up with Jim's mom for the afternoon. After their visit, Jim and Jacob were off to play putt-putt golf. Jacob informed me he liked this better than the lunar golf in the mall. They ended up playing 4 games of putt-putt. 18 holes for each game. Wow! I think Jim wore Jacob out after all of this fun!

We also just got back from spending a few days in Kilgore with my parents when my mom had her surgery. Kyla ended up flying down for it too so it was a treat seeing her again just days after our trip up there.

Halloween Headquarters

I don't know about you all, but we've been in the Halloween mood around here. Buying Halloween costumes, decorating the house, making crafts, watching Halloween cartoons and of course eating lots of candy already! :) It's been more fun this year since Jacob is more "into it".

I recently decided I needed to start doing more creative things with Jacob at home. And what better time to start than now with all the upcoming holidays. So I officially declared Luke's nap time=Jacob's craft time. Here are a few of our Halloween crafts...

Hard at work on a foam haunted house

Finished product (with lots of help from mom)

Painting a pumpkin

Finished product- we made one for Luke too so he wouldn't be left out. And as you can see he wanted no part of the picture taking.

We made a spider as a door hanger

We made lollipops into ghosts

Happy Fall- there's a smile from my sweet boy!

We haven't made it to the pumpkin patch yet but have plans to go soon! More pictures to come...
