I get such a kick out of some of the things Jacob and Luke say these days. The way they say it, how they say it, the bold, honest truth. Always gives me a smile. I want to always remember and treasure these sweet little things.
Jacob: "Today at school I learned that rojo means red in spanish."
Mom: "Oh wow, that's great."
J: "Mom, you say rojo."
M: "Rojo."
J: "Mom, I know it's hard but you have to say it like this..." and he continued in his best spanish accent. Apparently I said it all wrong. :)
In church on Sunday, the boys were having a little too much fun together. (and sweet Luke does NOT know how to whisper.) So I separate them and Jacob moves down to the other side of Jim. Luke looks at me with the saddest eyes and says "But Jacob is my best friend." Awwww! He must have said it ten times!
J: "Mom, I'm an expert in hiding."
After feeling pretty good about my recent haircut, Luke says "Mom, your hair is all crazy." Gotta love his honesty.
Before bed one night, I began prayers with Jacob:
M: "Lord, we thank you for such a great day today. We thank you for such a great soccer game, for our friend Avery and her birthday party..."
J: "Mom, and say that we are thankful that I played good on defense and blocked three goals of the other team."
M: "Umm, ok. Thank you God for helping Jacob block three goals from the other team."
J: "And Mom, say that we are thankful that I was a good defense player."
M: "Ok, Jacob. Thank you God for helping Jacob be such a good defense player today."
Brief pause....
J: "Mom, what's defense?"
Oh boy, after all that defense talk...what's defense? After a brief laugh we eventually got back on track with our prayers!
Some of Luke's recent favorite words:
-except
-but
-oopsie daisy
-when getting my attention, he not only says "Mom" once but about four times together real fast. "Mom, mom, mom, mom"
L: "Mom, I have great news. I just burped and I said excuse me." He was so proud and so was I! :)
When we are out and someone acknowledges Sarah, Luke is quick to jump in and say,
"But Sarah is my sister." So protective!
These are the ones that first come to mind. I'm sure there will be a Part 2 to this post before too long!
haha - oh what a fun way to start my day by reading these sweet and funny little sayings! That is too funny! I love the prayer one with Jacob and the defense! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Some of these conversations sound familiar. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you are capturing these to remember!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I can just hear the boys saying these things. I can't wait for the second installment. =)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh these were funny. Just imagining Luke tell you your hair is "all crazy" cracked me up. Emily has started saying "Oh my goodness gracious" to everything. It's not just that she says it, it's the emphasis on every word!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh out loud at Jacob's words because I can SO hear him saying those things! Those boys are just too precious! It's so great that you capture these conversations because they will keep the family entertained for years to come.
ReplyDeleteAs old as they are now, Collin and Kevin love nothing more than to hear funny stories like these from their childhood. So that's why I try so hard to document stories and conversations like these for C and K. And it's amazing how quickly you forget them, too. I was reading over some of the things I wrote when Connor was a baby, and I didn't remember half of them! Thank goodness for blogs to capture things us Mommies will soon forget, ha!
I love hearing all of the fun things they are saying. Especially Lukie's except. So so cute. Lauri is right - they are going to love hearing the cute stories of all the stuff they did/said!
