Happenings at our home

We've pretty much settled into our routine these days. Things have gotten a little easier around here. And I use the word 'easy' very loosely. lol!

A few weekends ago, Kyla and Michael came into town. They got to meet Sarah for the first time.

We had a great weekend all together and I'm so thankful for our time together.

Sarah took her first road trip to East Texas last weekend. I made sure I fed her right before we left and thankfully she slept the entire way there and back. Here is a sweet picture of Sarah and Grandma from the weekend...

We were driving down our street the other day on the way to school and I noticed a garage sale and something caught my eye. I immediately circled back around and asked the lady how much she wanted for the Cozy Coupe since there was no price on it. She said "Oh I don't know, a dollar or two." Seriously! The best $2 I've ever spent...the boys love it! And I know Sarah will too one day. And yes we were a little late to school but it was worth it! haha!

Luke is still just as sweet as ever with Sarah. He loves being near her and loves helping mommy.

We are still getting lots of smiles from Sarah.

We built this with Jacob's "Connectogons" and when we were done he says "This looks like something electricity could come from". I didn't look at it quite like that but I like the way he thinks! :)

Since Sarah will be 8 weeks on Monday I thought it would be fun to compare the boy's looks from when they were 8 weeks. Here is Luke.

And Jacob. Yes this is Jacob, not Sarah! :)

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all of God's blessings and all of God's love and mercy? Well, I sure do and these are a few reasons why...

Six week update

Believe it or not, our sweet baby girl is 6 weeks old today. She is growing like a weed and couldn't be any sweeter. Here is what Sarah is doing these days...

*She is making great eye contact and is very engaged when we talk to her. She seems to recognize our voices.
*She is trying so hard to talk to us. She has been cooing a little when we talk to her and I can't wait for her to do it more.
*She is smiling ALOT! It's hard to capture these little moments on camera but they are SO sweet.

*She does tummy time almost every day. She doesn't last long but we at least try it.

*She is able to hold her head up for longer periods of time.

*Her eyes seem to be turning a lighter shade of blue.

*Her little cheeks are getting more full and she is getting a little more brown hair.

She continues to bring us much joy. Jacob and Luke are still enjoying their sister. It has somehow become quite the competition between the two of them. To see who can give her the pacifier first, or who can sit the closest to me/her when I am feeding her on the couch, or who can get the burp cloth if she spits up etc. It is too funny.

Luke is very attentive to her. He loves telling me if she is awake in her bed "momma, baby eyes open" and he says all day long "I see baby, I see baby" which means he wants to see her up close and usually gives her kisses. We are still pleasantly surprised at Luke's reaction to her and we have really enjoyed watching them settle into their big brother roles!

First Outing

I have been meaning to post this for awhile. The first week I was by myself with the kids, we had our first outing where a shopping cart was involved, with all 3 kids. And let's just say it will be the last. Kidding, of course. But it was NOT easy.

First of all, Luke was NOT happy that Jacob had to sit in the back with him. Usually one gets the front and the other get the back. But now that Sarah gets the front, they are going to have to share the back. And Luke is still learning what the word "share" means! ha! So I thought ok, let's see how we can make this work. So the first stop was the deli counter where I got the boys their favorite, an ICEE. And you better believe I got myself a Diet Coke to get myself through the shopping trip. :)

And if you are looking at this picture like I looked at the shopping cart that day, I'm sure you are thinking where on earth do the groceries go? Let's just say, we got creative with the space and it wasn't easy!

Thankfully Sarah slept the entire time or else it would have really been interesting.

After an hour plus in Target, Luke wanting in and out of the shopping cart, Luke wanting to be carried, Jacob having to go to the bathroom, mommy being scattered and having to back track several times to get things she forgot, checking out and the boys asking over and over if they could get some candy...whew...we finally made it out! It was quite the adventure and you can bet I will be making this kind of trip when Jacob is in school and I only have 2 kids with me instead of 3! ha!

We also had another first outing, around the block. We were taking advantage of the cooler temps one afternoon and went out for a walk! It was a lot of work but nice to be outside for a change!

Boy's activities

I signed the boys up for a KidoKinetics class through the Frisco Athletic Center. I was able to get them into the same class which works out great. Luke should be in the younger class but I wasn't too sure if he would do it on his own. He's gotta have big brother close by, if mommy's not! :)

This class is a great way for them to get some exercise. They apparently introduce 25 different sport activities while incorporating different physical exercises. They seemed to like it after their first class. Little Luke kept up well and they were both so cute to watch!

Warming up and stretching those muscles

Doing a bear crawl, although Luke decided to crawl on all 4's.

Getting ready to hop like a frog...Luke wasn't too sure about this one

They did a little obstacle course one by one and little Luke was too cute. I just had to laugh, he was trying so hard to do it all!

One of our neighbors told me about a little Soccer Tot program in Prosper. Jacob has been asking to play soccer so this is the perfect class for him to learn the basic skills. It's from ages 2-5 so Luke is doing it with him.

They played and ran hard and both enjoyed it. So I think we will keep trying this and see how it goes!

And I just had to post this sweet picture of Sarah.

Ok, one more

Sarah's sweet smiles

I was able to capture a few of Sarah's sweet smiles, on my Iphone of course! I took her for her 4 week well check and while we were waiting for the doctor to come in, I captured this...Jacob was tickling her bare belly...

I mean, really, doesn't this just make you smile! She was trying so hard to coordinate those muscles into a smile!

Jacob was so excited he made her smile! I had noticed a few smaller smiles last week and was hoping they were real smiles and she meant to do it. However, there was no question that these were real! :)

And speaking of her well check- she got another good check up. Let me just say that baby girl can EAT! I was surprised at her weight, pleasantly surprised I might add. For a little comparison, at 4 weeks Jacob weighed 8.2 and Luke was 7.8. And baby girl...drum roll please...weighed 9.10!!! Yes, that's right! She weighed 7.2 at birth and in 4 short weeks gained over 2.5 pounds! WOW! She is in the 70% for her weight and 90% for her height! I guess that's why she doesn't look chubby now, she has lots of length to carry that baby fat! :)

It's no wonder the newborn size diapers and newborn size onesies like this one don't fit anymore!

While I am thrilled for her growth and development, I don't want my baby to get too big too fast! I know you all understand this! :)
